Rabbi Roselaar is passionate about Alei Tzion and what we can achieve. He wants to lead a community committed to shemirat mitzvot, talmud Torah and a serious engagement with Israel and the modern world. He is a proud Modern Orthodox Religious Zionist with the knowledge, skills and experience to lead a revival of the ideals we stand for in Anglo-Jewry. He has many practical ideas to make this happen.
Rabbi Roselaar possesses wide and deep learning and is a communal rabbi of great experience. He spent eight years at Yeshivat Har Etzion and received the prestigious semicha of the Israeli Chief Rabbinate. Younger rabbis often turn to him for halachic advice. He is also an educator, who has taught at Hasmonean High School and the Beit Midrash in Hendon. He is currently completing an MA at Birkbeck, University of London, in Jewish education and Halacha.
Rabbi Roselaar has spent the last 14 years serving London’s Jewish communities, first in Watford and then in Belmont. There he has been deeply involved in all aspects of communal life. As well as delivering shiurim tailored for those of different ages, levels, backgrounds and interests, he has counselled congregants through challenging times in their lives, prepared couples for marriage, led educational trips and officiated at occasions both happy and sad. He has learnt one-on-one with the young people of the community, led many communal seudot and welcomed members into his home for Shabbat and Yom Tov meals.
He is supported by his wife Naamah who studied at Columbia University in New York and Nishmat in Israel and who currently works as an occupational therapist. Na'amah, a graduate of LSJS’s Susie Bradfield programme, also gives shiurim on an occasional basis. They have four children: Devorah (14) Elisheva (13) Netanel (9) Chananya (2).
